Hajja - The Yemeni army is supporting anti-government protesters against President Ali Abdullah Saleh carried out attacks against military bases in Hajja, northern Yemen, killing one soldier Saleh regime.

"The dissident soldiers led by Siraj Abdullah launched an attack on an army checkpoint located on the side walls of military bases and a school and trying to occupy the base, killing one soldier at a checkpoint and wounded a pedestrian passing in front of the school," local military officials said as reported by state-owned news agency, Saba on Thursday (16/06/2011).

"The army leaders attack but the government faced a military base to limit the number of troops to prevent further bloodshed," he explained.

Hundreds of thousands of protesters have marched through major cities of Yemen since late January, demanding the overthrow of power Saleh, who has served as president since 1978.

Yemen rebellion has been popping a series of deadly clashes between anti-regime protests by pro-government forces across the country.

Saleh receiving treatment in Saudi Arabia because of an injury he experienced after the attacks on the presidential palace complex some time ago. There is a confusion of news about Saleh's current condition.

There are reports that Saleh (69) was in serious condition with burns to 40 percent of his body, but the Yemeni and Saudi officials insisted that the condition is improving and that he would soon return to Yemen.
