WASHINGTON- After the release of figures which are intended to illustrate the success of Americans in Afghanistan, the U.S. military reported that nearly 90 percent of Afghans who were arrested and referred to as "militants" were actually unarmed civilians.

In December 2010, As commander, General David Petraeus said that during the previous six months, as many as 4100 members of the "Taliban" has been arrested and 2,000 were killed, and finally it was revealed that nearly 90 percent of those arrested were civilians, according to Inter Press Service .

A set of other misleading reports circulated stating that the U.S. Special Operations Forces have arrested 1355 members of the Taliban and the top brass, as many as 1031 have been killed as murders and the arrest of 365 middle-class leaders of the Taliban or Taliban members conducted between May to July in the same year.

This figure was released to the media publicity and is intended to reverse the loss of U.S. reputation during a war in Afghanistan.

This report shows that many prisoners had been released from U.S. detention facility at Bagram base, also known as Detention Facility in Parwan, after their files are reviewed by a panel of military officers.

Although the number of deaths of those who claimed to be "Taliban" by the U.S. is impossible to be examined, but the number of prisoners could be monitored.

The death toll of U.S. troops in Afghanistan throughout 2010 according to claim they reached 711, the figures were probably much larger, because the U.S. always hide their losses exact figure. The year 2010 becomes deadliest year so far since the U.S. invaded Afghanistan in 2001.
