GAZA - The Hamas government that had taken control of Gaza since the 207, said patients in Gaza in desperate need of assistance during a hospital in central Israel blockaded Gaza a shortage of medical supplies.

Speaking at a news conference, Hamas officials announced that Gaza hospitals require at least 178 kinds of medicine for intensive care unit (ICU), delivery room, Podiatric surgery and eye, Press TV reported today (06/03/2011).

"Acute shortage of supply of drugs in hospitals of Gaza is very serious with tragic consequences," said Hamas lawmaker, Khamis Najjar.

In addition to drugs that are needed, the hospital also need fuel to power them. Because of the siege for four years, Israel has crippled Gaza and the hospital uses a power generator with high fuel consumption since that time.

Meanwhile, a large number of expensive drugs for the treatment of chronic patients, vaccine and blood plasma, which requires refrigeration, threatened damaged by regular power outages.

Health officials also warned that patients who need support, premature babies, and those who require kidney dialysis can lose their lives if power outages continue berlanut.

The hospital has also been running in the shortage of medical supplies for over four years and sometimes they can not even offer basic services for patients with minor injuries.

According to local health officials, the only way out of the current crisis is to help the international community to end Israel's blockade and enter the drug supply into the region.

Israeli blockade that has been running for four years have a negative impact on humanitarian and economic situation in the Gaza Strip.

Egypt on Saturday last week issued a decision opening the Rafah gate to assist Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to meet the needs of their lives, have now been re-imposed strict restrictions after the U.S. urged.
