WASHINGTON - The United States rate of transition from a strong U.S. military presence in Iraq to expand its diplomatic role "vital" for the security in the Middle East, according to U.S. officials revealed Wednesday (01/06/2011). Only a few months remaining time held by U.S. forces before withdrawing from Iraq, U.S. senior officials said they hoped Iraqi leaders will ask the troops to stay. "Formation of a stable Iraq, a sovereign and independent is important to the appearance of the Middle East a safe, open and self-determination themselves," said Patricia Haslach, Iraq's transition coordinator at the State Department. U.S. officials explained that the fiscal year 2012 which begins October 1 will see further pursue their political and economic cooperation at the time U.S. troops withdrawn. "The fiscal year 2012 will is the first year of security assistance normalization of relations with Iraq," Haslach said in a written statement together with USAID Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator Christopher Crowley and Colin Kahl, deputy assistant secretary of defense for the Middle East. Institutions and office-kembaga U.S. "has made the level of coordination and planning of the transition in Iraq that has never happened before," they added. Subcommittee chairman, Steve Chabot, warned about the rapid withdrawal of troops from Iraq. About 45,000 U.S. troops are in Iraq, most of whom served in training and assisting their Iraqi partners, though they all should resign at the end of the year under the provisions of a bilateral security pact. As reported by AFP news, earlier this month, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki called for national dialogue to gauge whether they should remain out in 2011, and U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said on Tuesday that he hopes Iraqi leaders will ask U.S. troops to stay there beyond the deadline.
