BAGHDAD - While Iraqi repeatedly urge the U.S. to withdraw all troops from Iraq, the White House again expressed his desire to maintain thousands of troops in the country.

White House tried to keep 8500 up to 10,000 troops to be deployed in Iraq through 2012, the Associated Press reported on Tuesday (07/05/2011), citing U.S. officials.

However, to avoid the main agenda, White House spokesman, Jay Carney, again claiming that the U.S. actually want to withdraw all U.S. troops by the end of this year, but the withdrawal will only be conducted in accordance with the situation in Iraq.

"We have been saying for a long time if the Iraqi government asked us to survive, then we will consider," said Carney told reporters in Washington.

Meanwhile, the majority of the Senate said the U.S. does not need to extend its military presence after 2011.

Speaking to Press TV, the Minister of Science and Technology, Iraqi Abdul Karim al-Samarrai, said recently that "the Iraqi people have expressed doubts about U.S. intentions in Iraq."

The U.S. invaded Iraq in 2003 under the pretext of destroying weapons of mass destruction (WMD) belonging to former leader Saddam Hussein's dictatorship.

However, later it was found that the state does not have a weapon. The U.S. and Britain, who led the invasion, conscious of the absence of such weapons in Iraq, but they continue to take military action to invade countries rich in oil.

More than one million Iraqis have been killed as a result of U.S. occupation, according to a study conducted by Opinion Research Business (ORB)
