PESHAWAR - At least 20 people were killed in the latest U.S. drone attack in Pakistan's Northwest region, Miranshah town bordering Afghanistan.
Local officials said the attack carried out by unmanned aircraft without UN sanctions, occurred on Friday (04/21/2011) morning, reports AFP.
The report said that the victim was local civilians. No other details regarding this event.
Amid rising public anger over civilian deaths from U.S. drone attacks, the U.S. announced that they will continue to conduct similar attacks in Pakistan. They claimed that the attack successfully eliminate "militants" in Pakistan, including the top brass. But local residents said most casualties were civilians rather than fighters.
