Russia expel Israeli ambassador

MOSCOW - Russia has expelled an Air Force Colonel Vadim Leiderman, Israeli Ambassador to Russia on charges of spying, Israeli officials said on Wednesday (18/05/2011).
Officials said the Air Force Colonel Vadim Leiderman has returned to Israel a few days ago after being questioned by Russian authorities about the alleged spy and then asked to leave the country immediately.
Television Line 1 of the state of Israel said Russia had been freed without charge because of diplomatic immunity, according to the Antara news site.
"He has been taken in for questioning in Moscow about 10 days ago, police asked him some questions. Because of his diplomatic immunity, they can not do more, but he was asked to leave the country immediately and he has done, "the television added.
