BAGHDAD - The United States reportedly has decided to put 4000 troops in Kuwait after pulling them out of Iraq later this year.
Some 4,000 soldiers will be deployed Brigade Combat Team from Iraq to Kuwait as a reserve force, the commander of the unit said on his Facebook page, as reported by AFP on Thursday (11/10/2011).
Earlier this month, U.S. officials said, the Pentagon estimates to shift at least 4,000 soldiers from Iraq to Kuwait by the end of the year, pending a final decision by military planners and leaders of Kuwait.
According to the posting of a sergeant major in the unit's commander, U.S. forces will complete 12 months of their new assignment in Kuwait, which had previously begun in Iraq in mid-July 2011.
The U.S. already has about 23,000 troops in the Persian Gulf oil-rich.
Commenting on the news about the relocation of U.S. forces, Muqtada al-Sadr, leader of the religious and political influence in Iraq, said last Thursday that the U.S. plans to station troops in the Middle East region is a step taken in order to occupy other Islamic countries.
"America is not only occupy Iraq but also other Muslim countries," said Sadr.
He added, "Occupying Iraq with occupy other areas around Iraq, and then to control the Middle East."
