Construction of the wall Israel continues to impose casualties Palestinians Palestina

Bil'in, Palestine - Protesters in the village of Bil'in continues to dismantle part of Israel's Wall has been eliminated by Israel in accordance with the Israeli court decision which was made four years ago to move the wall in that area.

During a demonstration Friday (24/06/2011), seven people were injured when villagers in the central West Bank Bil'in celebrates the abolition of the ancient wall that Israel built on their land. Six local residents and a French activist sustained injuries because of the gas bombs fired by Israeli soldiers.

Villages throughout the West Bank also held their weekly protest on Friday against the Israeli wall built on their land. Protests also occurred that day in Nil'in and Nabi Saleh in the central west Bank and Al Ma'ssara village in the south.

In Nabi Saleh, was wounded a nine-year-old girl and arrested an international activist. While in Nil'in many protesters were treated for inhaling tear gas, while in Al Ma'ssara, soldiers do not guard that allows people to reach the construction site walls.

Bil'in residents began to organize a weekly nonviolent protest against the wall Israel six and a half years ago. In September 2007 the villagers continue to protest, and legal proceedings make it to the Israeli Supreme Court Justice, to stop the construction
wall.

The court decided to knock down the wall built on Bil'in's land. Since that decision, the villagers get back 275 of the 600 acres taken by Israel for the construction of the wall.

Earlier, in 2004 the International Court in The Hague ruled that Israel's wall built in Palestine is illegal.

In February last year and after two years of stalling the Israeli army began to replace the old wall by building a new one. This week the new wall finish and military bulldozers began to tear down the old wall, an unusual scene to Bil'in, where the construction of the wall becomes part of everyday life.

Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad told reporters that "the village of Bil'in have been returned because of change of wall development programs represent less than half of the confiscated land."

Today, like every Friday, the protests began after midday prayers, in addition to supporters of Israel and international who joined the struggle of Bil'in: Palestinian PM Salam Fayyad and Israeli Arab Members of Knesset (Parliament) Mohamed Baraka joined in the protest.

Each week the Israeli army units to stop the villagers who are going through the gate of the wall by firing tear gas, causing dozens suffered gas inhalation. Today (Friday, 27 / 6) seven were injured when they were hit in the arm and leg by a gas bomb fired by the army. Soldiers using bullets and water chemical known locally as "Skunk" to roduce a foul odor.

Even with peace Bil'in protest Israeli soldiers still faced with violence resulting in death. In January 2010 Jawaher Abu Rahmah died from inhaling tear gas that badly. Bassem brother also was killed when an Israeli soldier shot him in the chest with a tear gas bomb in April 2009. Residents estimate that 1400 people had been injured by the assault troops in Bil'in since they began to protest and as many as 140 people have been arrested.
