NATO helicopter attack several targets in Libya

Tripoli - Helicopters NATO has launched its first attack on Libya to intensify its military campaign against the ruler of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi.

"The helicopters carried out the attack under the command of NATO, is used for the first time on June 4, 2011 in military operations throughout Libta in the Unified Operation Protector," the Western military alliance said in a statement reported by AFP today (06/04/2011).

Two Apache helicopters destroyed two military installations, radar sites and vehicles ply danger near a checkpoint near the town of Brega, said the captain of HMS Ocean, a British warship in the Mediterranean sea where the aircraft were flown.

Gazelle helicopters also took part in similar operations.

Four British and 12 Apache helicopters and Gazelle Tiger French property in Libya have been deployed under NATO command.

NATO commander in Libya, Lt. Gen. Charles Bouchard said it will be used wherever and whenever needed.

Helicopters provide more precision than a jet fighter in the small targets and loyalist attack Gaddafi who had hidden in the dense, NATO claims.
