Job Title : Java Application Engineer
Location : Philadelphia, PA
Duration : 6 Months Contract

Position Overview:
The Java Application Engineer supports the design, development, deployment,
testing,

and support of Information Technology systems or services. Will need to
participate in

small/medium size teams (comprised of both onshore and offshore resources)
on

assignments to accomplish project goals. The focus of this position will
be on designing

and building services and orchestrations on the organization’s enterprise
data

translation engine. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to
build and deliver

technology strategy and solutions and be familiar with EDI data standards
based on

MISMO, X12, and flat file formats. Have experience in developing complex,
scalable

systems that solve the current problem, but include the future in the
design.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Decompose requirements for testability and provide feedback to the
requirements

gathering process
Estimate, design, prototype, develop, document, and unit test solutions to
business

problems on a project by project basis
Investigation and root cause analysis of software and system defects;
resolve issues

with production systems
Interact with customers/users to support software acceptance process and act
as a

liaison between development and user community
Work with vendor to handle application upgrades
Provide 2nd tier, off-hours remote support

Required Skills and Expertise:
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or
Management

Information Systems
3-5 years Java development experience, working on large-scale J2EE
applications in a

BEA Weblogic environment
Specific knowledge of Intel’s SOA Expressway platform including development
of Web

services, deployment of various security measures, data translation from
various file

formats to XML and integration with other periphery systems
General knowledge of J2EE application frameworks including Struts, Spring,
and

Hibernate
General knowledge of relational databases
Proficient in configuration management tools (preferably StarTeam)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills working in a cross-functional
team

environment
High level of energy and enthusiasm. Must have strong interpersonal,
organizational,

and advanced problem solving skills
