Egypt has opened the Rafah Gate permanently

CAIRO - Egypt on Saturday (05/28/2011) to reopen the Rafah border with the Gaza Strip, allowing anyone to cross freely for the first time in four years, the AFP launched.

The first bus filled with passengers to cross into Egypt on Saturday morning (28 / 5) at the Rafah terminal, Gaza, where about 400 people waiting.

In addition, today there were two ambulances that transport patients from the Gaza Strip to obtain appropriate care in Egypt.

Egyptian Foreign Minister, Nabil al-Arabi, announced on April 29, after a reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas, stating that the border will open permanently. This step will help ease the blockade imposed by Israel on Gaza.

Rafah crossing will be open for eight hours every day except Fridays and public holidays. However, this border is still not passable by the transportation of goods.

Since the expulsion of former president Hosni Mubarak on 11 February, the military council has loosened strict regulation of Egypt at Rafah.

Meanwhile, the opening of this border was bringing its own concerns for Israel. Zionist State that considers that such a move would make it easier for the 'militant' to get in and out of Gaza.
