European diplomats supported the recognition of the Palestinian Al-Quds as its capital Alqudsss
The European foreign ministers will discuss and possibly next week to support the draft resolution calling for recognition of Al-Quds (occupied East Jerusalem) as capital of a Palestinian state in the future.

"The EU urges resumption of negotiations that will lead to a two-state solution is independent, democratic, contiguous and viable Palestinian state, which consists of the West Bank and Gaza with East Jerusalem as its capital," read the bill, a copy was published by Haaretz on Tuesday (5/19/2011) ago.

Israel occupied the holy city of Al-Quds in the 1967 war and later annexed in a move not recognized by the international community or UN resolutions. Since then, Israel has conducted a series of measures of oppression to force Palestinians out of the city that is home to Islam's holiest buildings such third.

"The council warned that they never recognize the annexation of East Jerusalem," reads the draft resolution.

"If there is such thing as a true peace, a way must be found to resolve the status of Jerusalem as the capital of two states."

The EU foreign ministers, scheduled to meet in Brussels on December 7, 2011, will also demand an end to provocations in the holy city.

"The council is deeply concerned about the situation in East Jerusalem. In view of recent incidents, he asked all parties to refrain from provocative actions. "

Earlier, the Israeli government recently approved an additional 900 units of housing in Jewish settlements in Al-Quds that cause global condemnation.

Beginning in 2011, Israeli authorities issued demolition orders for more than 88 houses in an urban environment Silwan. A recent UN report also warned that thousands of Palestinian houses in Al-Quds is facing the risk of mass destruction by Israel.

Israel criticized the proposal submitted by the Swedish presidency of the European Union, and claimed it would endanger the possibility of reviving peace talks.

"The process led by the European Union compromising the ability of Sweden to take part as a significant mediator in the political process between Israel and the Palestinians," Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

European diplomats, however, said the European position, does not represent a radical change.

"This may be a way to encourage the Palestinians to enter negotiations," said a European official in Tel Aviv told the Christian Science Monitor.

He denied that the EU will recognize the unilateral declaration of establishment of a Palestinian state.

"I do not think Europeans are interested in the recognition of a Palestinian state now, before any negotiations. It's more like saying, if and when that happens, we will recognize East Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state.
