Gaddafi proved to use cluster bombs in Misurata

Tripoli - Human Rights Watch (HRW) said troops loyal to the ruler of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi has used cluster bombs hit a residential area while residents in the town of Misurata.
The organization said some residents suspect Misurata four cluster bombs exploded in the city, reported the Guardian on Friday (15/04/2011).
"They (cluster bombs) cause great risk to civilians both during attacks or afterwards due to their nature and because the rest of the scattered explosions still dangerous," said Steve Goose, director of the organization's weapons division.
In a statement, HRW said that cluster munitions is a production of Spain, MAT 120-120 mm mortar projectiles, which will open in the air and released the 21 sub-munitions to a large area.
A spokesman for the revolutionaries in Misurata said that she heard "a big explosion followed by smaller ones, it sounds like a cluster bomb."
"We have never seen injuries like this before. We need an expert to assess (gunpowder)," said a doctor at a hospital in Misurata.
There are no confirmed reports of casualties related to the use of cluster bombs.
International institutions and human rights groups have warned of a growing humanitarian disaster in Misurata, the third largest city in Libya. )
