JOB SUMMARY
Installs, configures, and supports the local area network (LAN), wide area
network (WAN), Intranet and Internet and other data communications systems
for selected network systems. Maintains network hardware and software.
Performs necessary maintenance and addresses problems in selected network
environments. Reviews systems for effective design, operation and
compliance with external and internal requirements. Provides project
planning support to the PMO organization and provides implementation
assistance to individual projects.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work as a member of a cross-functional and
cross-organizational team supporting selected applications and networks
• Serve in a network administration role. Perform hands-on
tasks in the following areas:
o Perform network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain
control records.
o Respond to, isolate, and resolve network issues. Review alerts
and information to identify network elements causing network degradation or
failure.
o Maintain logs and documentation associated with reported
problems or topology while complying with related external and internal
requirements.
o Analyze network characteristics (e.g., traffic, connect time,
transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput) and recommend
procurement, removals, and modifications to network components.
• Serve on projects involving network issues and enhancements.
o Participate in projects involving network changes and assess
impact on network performance and provide advice and guidance.
o Design, configure, and test network hardware and networking
software.
o Organize and direct network installations and changes.
• Update network as built documentation is upon completion of
all changes and/or projects to the application environment.
• Advocate for changes and perform changes as approved by the
Change Control Board.
• Provide 7x 24 on-call coverage as required.
• Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
• 6+ years experience in network administration.
• Demonstrated knowledge of ITIL principles and processes.
• Experience managing and configuring Cisco load balancers.
• Experience in Optical Fiber core network configurations and
troubleshooting.
• Experience in SCADA networks.
• In-depth knowledge on designing and implementing data
networks, and knowledge of configuration of data networks
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Routing, Switching,
WLAN, WAN, QoS, and Spanning Tree Protocol
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel,
VISIO and PowerPoint
• Detail-oriented with excellent documentation skills.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills with the
demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with peers and
communicate at all levels within the organization
• Proficient analytical, decision making, and problem solving
skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in MIS, CIS or related field is preferred.
• CCNP or other OEM equivalent certification is preferred.
• Experience in security principles preferred.
• Experience in monitoring and configuring intrusion detection
and prevention systems (IDS/IPS)and firewalls is preferred.
• Experience with security patch distribution, security scanning
applications, anti-virus applications, and Active Directory is preferred
• Experience in real time control systems preferred
